I hope you and your family are doing well.
We've been living through difficult times, right?
I tried to be more present to my clients and followers writing posts in my journal twice a week and posting often at Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. So the only thing missing was a newsletter because I wanted to make sure it would be pleasant and sweet!
On another note, I love that Fall is here!
In my opinion, it's the most beautiful season as well as the best time of the year to have fun getting dressed!
It's when we can play with textures and colors without having to wear a heavy coat yet. All we need to do is add a third piece, such as a jacket, a blazer, a vest, a poncho or a light scarf.
In case you haven't seen it, I wrote some articles about Fall Wardrobe. I suggest you read these posts, get inspired and take a close look at your closet.
In fact, why don't you take some time to do some cleaning?
I have done one and it was invigorating. This seasonal change is a great time for this, isn't it?
With some exceptions, there is no such thing as a Spring or Fall wardrobe. We can still wear many of your loved Spring/Summer clothes with a different style. Get inspired with “How to transition your clothes from summer to fall”
Crazy about dresses? Me too! Check out here "4 tips to wear mid-length dresses”and get inspired on how to style them differently for Fall/Winter.
WFH? Comfort is key when we are staying in. But adding an accessory, applying some make up, paying attention to what we wear can bring us confidence and make everything flow better. Believe me! Click to read “What to wear this Fall - at home and beyond".
SMALL TALK:
INTERVIEW WITH A PERSONAL ORGANIZER
I see recurring issues in my clients' wardrobes. I believe they impact women when they are in a hurry to get dressed.
That's why I asked Gennifer Arantes (Genni Organizer) some questions. She's a personal organizer working for the past 4 years with clients in NY, NJ and CT.
SPOILER ALERT: The last tip she gave us is something I had never thought about!
M: I always tell my clients: If we don’t see it, we don't wear it. What would you suggest for organizing jewelry if the client doesn’t have a specific drawer for them? Usually they are hidden in small boxes and pouches. Genni:My recommendation is an acrylic transparent jewelry organizer with divisions. We can see clearly what we have!
M: In general, when I meet a client for the first time, I find a mix of different hangers. Including the dry cleaner ones, which is terrible for clothes! I totally believe in having the same hangers in the same color. Do you agree? And do you have a favorite? Genni:I always tell my clients that it makes such a difference when the hangers are the same. The clothes will be on the same level, so we can see everything.
As you said, if we don’t see them, we don’t wear them! Also hangers standardization brings visual comfort and harmony to your closet.
I recommend the velvet thin hangers as they really save space. An extra tip: for pants, you could use kids' hangers because it fits them perfectly.
M: What is your best advice for women who aren't tall enough to hang a dress? Genni:It really happens all the time! Actually it is very difficult for me to see a closet in Manhattan with vertical space for dresses. The best way is to fold the dress in half.
If you have enough space, try to hang the straps in one hanger and the skirt in another one - it gets less wrinkles.
The white shirt is a personal favorite because I wear it on different occasions, from the beach to a casual party.
By the way, I have something amazing to share with you: Misha Nonoo, the designer of the namesake brand created a unique piece called The Husband shirt. It's really special because it has an elongated cuff that you can style in different ways - so chic!
You can choose from 3 different fabrics and many colors. Yes, they also have striped ones, my second favorite! And instead of buttons, this shirt has studs in 4 different metals to be chosen: silver, gold, gunmetal and rose gold. You can even order extras and change them if you wish so! How cool is that?
I was at an event at the store with a client last Winter. She loved it so much that she ordered it twice!
I also have one. Here are some ways I like to wear it:
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
For my clients and readers, Misha Nonoo is offering a $25 discount with the code Marcia25.
Oh, and it's not only for The Husband shirt. It can be for anything you might like on her website.
Who doesn't love a good coupon right?!
I hope you enjoyed this nice chat!
