Your Fall Wardrobe Guide 🍂🍃🍁Trends, finds, and styling tips
YOUR FALL WARDROBE GUIDE: TRENDS, FINDS, AND STYLING TIPS.
The best part of Fall is pulling out jackets and pieces I haven't seen in a while—they feel brand new!
How fun is that?
At the same time, I’m checking out what the stores have and thinking about what I might want to purchase.
Here are the questions I ask myself—and my answers this season—to help organize my shopping:
1. Do I need to replace anything?
Yes, I need a new black wool coat. Mine is too small now. I’ve had it for years and love it, but I need a different size. I’m researching my options, but if I don’t find something I love—and since I have other coats—I might wait until next year.
Also, I needed jeans in different cuts to create different looks. Some of my old ones don’t fit me well anymore. I ordered a couple over the Summer and kept two.
2. Is there anything I feel like I need?
I need knee-high black leather boots. I have two suede pairs (one with a low heel and one with a high heel). Last Winter, I wore a white skirt with one of them, and while it looked great, the skirt got stained. The dry cleaners struggled to get it clean. Lesson learned! I ordered a pair of black leather boots from Staud, but they didn’t work—they’re made for someone taller than me (I’m 5'3"). Now I’m trying a brand I like—let’s see how that goes!
3. What am I excited to wear this season?
Here’s where it gets fun!
Red shoes! I loved the red sandals I bought this Summer, so I’ve been on the hunt for red closed-toe shoes. I finally found some! They’re classic and will look great with jeans—one of my wardrobe staples. The medium-low heels are perfect for work and going out.
Anything suede in rich brown or camel. I love brown suede bags, though I’m still unsure since suede requires extra care. Suede jackets are beautiful this season and add texture to any outfit, which I love. They’re an investment, for sure. It reminded me of my vintage light brown suede jacket I bought in Argentina in 1997. I tried it on, and surprisingly, it still fits! I was so happy that I recorded a video about it and will post it soon on my Instagram.
Something flowy/boho/70s-inspired from the Chloé collection. In this case, I’m not looking to make a big investment. I found an ivory shirt at Massimo Dutti in my perfect color. I haven’t tried it on, but I think it’ll look great with my suede jacket, jeans, and red shoes. See? This is what I mean by having fun getting dressed!
I hope this helps you plan your wardrobe more strategically. Always keep your style and lifestyle in mind! If you need professional help, I’d be happy to assist you, either virtually or in person.
Let's Talk About Fall Trends
Not all trends are for us, but they do inspire us! Remember my suede jacket? I’ve always liked it, but now it feels more current than ever. That’s the idea!
Jackets are probably the most useful piece this time of year. Since many of you have asked, here are some ideas to either shop for or use as inspiration to shop your closet:
Recently, I’ve done a few group color analyses. One was for three old friends visiting New York for a fun weekend. Another was for three friends who live nearby. Two weeks ago, I even did a color analysis at a baby shower! The hostess wanted something fun and different. It was a beautiful day, and we spent it outside. Check it out:
I’m often asked where I find my jewelry, as it’s hard to find interesting pieces in stores. Besides street markets, when I travel or occasionally shopping second-hand, I usually buy online. I used to shop at Matches, but since they closed, I’ve found a new favorite: At Present. For a jewelry lover like me, it’s heaven! Take a look:
