My beautiful Japanese tree that I love, still beautiful covered in snow
I need to share something very interesting that has been going on since the end of 2020:
I don't know if it's part of New Year's resolutions, or if it's just that some women have decided they want to take care of themselves. But lately, I've been getting many messages from clients asking for help with their style and wardrobe. Some are also complaining that they find their winter clothes boring.
Have you been feeling the same way?
For those who are still working from home, the situation is even more challenging. Soon, it will be one year since the pandemic started. It's like starting all over again, right?
Yet, looking on the bright side, we can still have some fun getting dressed. And this doesn't necessarily mean buying new clothes.
Here are some posts I wrote this month, in case you missed it:
SMALL TALK WITH ROSIE PETRILLO FROM ÂME SKIN STUDIO
Because of these chilly days in NY, I decided to ask Rosie Petrillo for some tips on how to take care of our skin in the winter. She is the owner of Âme Skin Studio in Norwalk, CT, and the person I trust to take care of my skin.
Her advice is priceless and easy to implement in your daily skincare routine. Check it out:
M: What do you think we should change in our beauty routine in the Winter?
Rosie:Hydration is the key!!
Make sure to use a milky hydrating cleanser.
Always use a toner with humectants and without alcohol.
Only exfoliate 2 nights a week if your skin is more oily.If you have dry skin, then once a week is good enough.
Look for antioxidant serums. Your skin needs help to fight those free radicals now more than ever.
If you need a heavier moisturizer, look for the ones that contain ceramides to help restore the water loss that Winter causes.
Lastly, seal in hydration and give your skin an extra layer of protection, applying a few drops of rosehip or marula oil.
M: For those who are working online, how important is it to keep using sunblock?
Rosie:SUPER important! UVA contributes to skin cancer, which is the main reason we recommend using SPF every day even if you are indoors and especially if you are sitting by a window or in a room with lots of sunlight.
On the same note, we need to remember that smart devices and computer screens reflect blue light that is also damaging to our skin.
What if you wear makeup with SPF in it? Is this enough? It depends on how much of the makeup you're wearing, and the amount of SPF it contains. If the makeup offers broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher protection that’s good enough.
M: Valentine’s Day is coming! Give some examples of masks we could buy online to make our skin glow for a special dinner at home?
Rosie:You can’t go wrong with Patchology, that’s my favorite!! FlashMasque Hydrate 5-Minute Sheet Masks combat dehydration and ease your facial fatigue. You'll look youthful and dewy every day.
