How is December treating you so far? Has it been a peaceful or stressful month?
I know many unfortunate things are happening worldwide, but I would love it if this newsletter made you smile today.
What if you take some time to stop and think about yourself? Do you feel confident with your wardrobe? Can you genuinely express your style? I hope so. After all, this is a form of self-care as well.
In case you missed it:
Last month, I traveled to Brazil as a guest speaker at an Image Consulting Conference. There were 350 attendees. It was exhilarating to be with colleagues and many former students. In case you didn't know, I have been a teacher at Centro Europeu for the past six years.
As I write this email, I'm back in New York. I have been busy with my clients, classes, and planning for 2024. Soon, I will have exciting news to share with you!
How can you make your holiday outfit new?
Do you feel like wearing a new outfit without necessarily buying anything? Look in your closet for a different and festive piece. Curating your wardrobe should always come first. If you go shopping (whether in the mall or online), choose clothes or accessories you can wear on other occasions, not exclusively for holidays.

Here is what I wore on Thanksgiving. You won't believe how old my shoes are:
SMALL TALK: LEILA SOLDEIRA, A MAKEUP ARTIST BASED IN NYC.
Are you in need of some beauty advice? I asked Leila for some quick makeup tips.
M - What would you suggest to someone who doesn't wear much makeup but wants to look festive on the holidays?
Leila -Nowadays, the less makeup, the better. I love an illuminated skin that makes you look healthy and perfect for any occasion. I grab the Nivea moisturizer (yes, that old one), add a drop of Iconic London Illuminator, and apply it to the whole face. Then, I come with a blush on the cheeks, on the chin, and on the tip of the nose. The final touch is using lots of mascara. Victoria Beckham has an excellent long-wear one and is easy to remove. Just a lip balm instead of lipstick is great as well!
M - Can you tell me a blush and a lipstick that works for every skin tone in your opinion?
Leila -Pat McGrath Divine Blush color Divine Rose, and Charlotte Tilbury lipstick color Wedding Belles.
M - What would you tell women with mature skin to avoid when applying makeup?
Leila -Stay away from loose powder because it doesn't look good. You can use a little compact powder on the T area (forehead, nose, and chin). Put on a good moisturizer before the foundation to keep your skin hydrated.
Are you searching for high-quality denim with luxury construction in the mid-priced range? Check out Pistola. My clients like this California-based womenswear brand because of its premium design, fabrication excellence, and affordability. Instead of going for the popular retailers to get new jeans, such as J. Crew or Loft, why not try something not so obvious?
I hope you have a joyful holiday season!
See you soon,
