When I moved to New York, I hated my first November. The ending of daylight saving time, the shorter days, and the cold were too much for someone who had just arrived. I was an immigrant having my first real winter.
Fourteen years later, I think differently. It's a transition. From the beautiful and colorful Autumn to getting ready for the holidays. I have learned how to enjoy it. Although I need to say, I feel tired for a couple of days when the time changes. Besides this, it's a moment of so much work that I don't see November as bad as before.
This month, I will also go to Brazil to give a lecture at an Image & Style Consultants conference. I will be back just in time for Thanksgiving, which turned out to be my favorite holiday in this country that I call home.
How is your Fall-Winter wardrobe doing? Have you purchased anything new? Are you planning to wait for the sales? Here is some inspiration for you:
SMALL TALK: CAMILLA FREDERICO FROM THE PERSONAL HELPERS
I talked with Camilla, a Personal Organizer in the Tri-State area, about how to organize your closet before a new season begins.
M: Camilla, why is it so important for us to have a closet ready for a new season?
Camilla: It will save you time and reduce stress. Additionally, it helps you to maintain the longevity and quality of your clothes.
M: What is the best way to store Summer clothes when we don't have much space?
Camilla: First of all, make sure they are clean before storing them. Use vacuum-sealed bags that save space and protect your clothes from dust or insects.
M: As a personal organizer, what is your advice to someone who has many Fall-Winter clothes and wants to make the most use of all of them?
Camilla: Try to rotate your clothes regularly, so that everything gets worn. This will also give you a chance to reassess your wardrobe items periodically.
