Women over 40: does having high-quality clothes matter?
[This is part of a series about women over 40’s style. This was the subject of an Instagram live chat I had with Kelly Tavora, a fellow stylist based in London. All the posts will be based on the questions we got.]
I remember one day I was on vacation in Miami. I was about to have lunch in a nice restaurant when this middle-aged woman arrived.
She was just wearing a white shirt and jeans, yet she looked so elegant.
Her shirt was just perfect, probably made of the finest cotton because it had some structure - that alone made her outfit stand out.
So yes, I believe high-quality clothes make a huge difference. Excellent fabric and a perfect fit matter, especially as we age.
My advice is simple: even if you are on a budget, invest in good quality items that you will wear throughout the entire year and that fit your personal style.
Try to find a good tailor to make your clothes fit perfectly, too. If your goal is to have a curated wardrobe, you don't need lots of clothes, just the right ones for you.
Do you need help to achieve the wardrobe of your dreams? Send me an email at hello@marciacrivorot.com and book a free 30-minute discovery call with me. We can meet in person if you live in the tri-state area (I’m fully vaccinated!). But if you prefer, we can talk on Zoom. Either way, I promise it will be fun with lots of learning!
