Upcoming Fall collections: what to expect?

NY Fashion Week used to be a very busy time for me.

For the last few years, I have been offering (along with my partner in Brazil) an educational program for Portuguese speakers called NY Fashion Tour.

This project involves classes about trends and brands at FIT, guest speakers, store tours, and volunteer work at fashion shows backstage.

While we can’t really visit the runways in person this year, it doesn’t mean that we can’t keep an eye on the upcoming Fall collections, right?

In case you haven't heard, the Fashion Weeks are having a different format than usual because of the pandemic for the second season.

However, it doesn't mean there’s no creativity or novelty. Honestly, it’s still a little early to talk about all the trends. That’s because NY Fashion Week isn’t done yet, and we still have a few more to go: London, Milan, and Paris are next to show their collections.

On the other hand, something interesting I’ve already noticed is comfy knits - tops, dresses, and accessories. They’re stylish, practical in the cool weather, and more importantly, versatile. Knits are perfect to wear when going out, attending Zoom calls, or watching Netflix!

So I chose to show you some looks of Phillip Lim's collection. I can definitely see my clients wearing his clothes. By the way, I’m adding some pieces to my personal wish list as well.

Take into account that when clothes are presented at a Fashion Week, there’s a need to present a concept. It doesn't mean that designers expect you to wear them exactly that way. It’s just all for the show!

Besides, I added some options of cozy sweaters that you can find in the stores right now. I feel they are the best for a snow day like we are having in NY right now. Aside from being born in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), I need to say that I do love to work with this view of the snow falling. It’s so peaceful!

What do you think of wearing comfy knits on chilly days? Do you like Phillip Lim's outfits? Share your ideas in the comments below!
