Skinny or wide-leg jeans?

If a pair of jeans is one of the pieces you wear the most, Fall is the perfect time to add a new style to your wardrobe.

Recently, a follower asked me whether flared-leg jeans were out of style or not. Then, a client asked me if she still could wear her skinny jeans - supposedly they aren't trendy anymore.

So what is fashionable at the moment after all?

If you look at online stores, you'll notice that well-known brands are selling all of these styles and more. Conversely, remember that what really matters is to be true to your personal style. This is the best trend!

However, lately, we can see many options of cropped jeans.

Why?

Well, because they are really versatile. You can wear them with flats, high heels, sneakers, or boots once it gets cooler. But this doesn't mean that skinny or flared-leg pants are outdated.

How to wear flared-leg jeans:

  • Flared-leg jeans are inspired in the 70s. They are usually mid to high-waisted and look great with flowy tops and fitted sweaters (avoid oversized ones). A ribbed turtleneck is an ideal match, too. Add a belt to complement beautifully with your outfit.

  • To elongate your figure, they have to be really long (about half an inch from the floor). In order to achieve this effect, pick shoes with the same heel height. Don't like wearing heels? No problem. Flats are totally fine as well. Just skip your round-toe shoes, such as ballet flats.

  • Excellent choice for those who want to camouflage their waist area.

  • Boots over skinny jeans are a Fall-Winter classic formula. Then, choose a sweater with some volume for visual balance.

  • This isn't the best option for those who aren't comfortable with their hip/tights area. In this case, get a darker blue wash without any details on the hips.

  • The best length is just above your ankles. It's more elegant and works with flats or heels.
