Printemps New York: A French Escape in the Heart of Wall Street
Last week, I visited the most talked-about store in New York City right now - Printemps, the French department store that has just opened its doors in an iconic Art Deco building from 1930. Once a bank, the space now houses a beautifully curated retail experience, located right next to the New York Stock Exchange.
The store is stunning - from the architecture and decor to the visual merchandising, there’s so much to take in. Every corner is carefully designed with intention, and the atmosphere invites you to slow down and take in the details.
Red Room
Two of my favorite spaces?
The vintage room, with incredible one-of-a-kind pieces, and the Red Room, filled with shoes displayed like works of art.
And yes, the clothing is beautiful - carefully chosen pieces that make you want to reach out and touch them. In the beauty area, you’ll find niche perfumes that are hard to find elsewhere, along with the option to book a facial and sip champagne.
What makes Printemps New York different is the concept behind it.
As one of the sales associates explained, this isn’t meant to be just another department store. It was designed to feel like a pied-à-terre, a home away from home. And honestly, that’s exactly how it felt. No one rushed us, no one asked if we wanted to try something every five minutes. We wandered, admired, and took it all in, without pressure.
It was a beautiful visit, and I’m already planning to go back - maybe with a client, or to get inspired, enjoy a coffee and croissant, or have a drink at the stunning bar.
A little French escape in the middle of the Financial District.
