HAPPY NEW YEAR!

photo: Andrea D'Andrea

I hope you're having an amazing holiday season and that you're having a great time with family and friends.
I'd also like to send you all my love and wishes for a new year full of health and joy. And lots of styles, too.
Why not, right?

What are your new year's resolutions?

Have you ever thought about learning the colors and combinations that work best for you?

Color is the element that has the biggest impact on what we wear. This doesn't apply only to clothes. Think about jewelry, scarves, eyeglasses, sunglasses, hair color, and make-up.

Learning about your color palette will save you time and reduce stress. I promise you!

SMALL TALK WITH CHEF MICHELE LEÃO OF HEALTHYTABLEBYUS

MC: Michele, could you suggest a drink for the New Year's Eve parties?

Michele: My suggestion is the "Skinny French 75".

Ingredients:

  • Champagne or Prosecco
  • 1 shot of gin  (approx. 1 fl oz)
  • Fresh lemon juice (1 tbsp)
  • 1 tbsp homemade simple syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon rind to garnish

Instructions:

  • Use a cocktail shaker.
  • Add the gin, lemon juice, syrup, and a few ice cubes.
  • Shake it all up and pour it into a champagne flute (without the ice).
  • Top up with Prosecco or Champagne and add the garnish.

Extra tips:

  • Gin doesn't contain any carbohydrates. Fresh lemon juice is better than the one bought at the stores since they contain a lot of sugar.

  • To make a low-carb simple syrup, add 1 part of water and 1/2 part of monk fruit sweetener to a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and ensure that all the sweetener is fully dissolved. Store it at room temperature.

  • This syrup has zero carbs and it is excellent for baking! Use the same quantity as sugar.
