Women over 40: how to incorporate sexy details into your outfits?

[This is part of a series about women over 40’s style. This was the subject of an Instagram live chat I had with Kelly Tavora, a fellow stylist based in London. All the posts will be based on the questions we got.]

"Is it possible to wear a sexy outfit without showing too much skin?"

"Are we allowed to feel sexy after a certain age?"

You all know that I don't like to make lists of what to wear or not to wear if you are in your 40's or 50's. It all depends on your personal style.

But when I got these questions above, I knew exactly what they were talking about. They meant: How can I incorporate some alluring details into my outfits without trying too hard?

Here are 7 tips on how to look effortlessly sexy. And this goes for all women, not only those over 40!

1- Finding a long sleeve silk shirt showing some cleavage is sexy in a very interesting way. Please note: you will need a high-quality fabric!

2- Wearing a black bra under a white silk shirt - you can see it just a bit. But don't try this at the office!

3- Picking a mid-length skirt or dress with a slit. You really don't need to wear a miniskirt.

4- Looking for the perfect leather pants or skirt.

5- Putting on longer earrings with some movement.

6- Adding a lariat necklace (check the pictures).

7- Putting on a soft cashmere sweater in the winter. The quality of the fabric also matters here.

By the way, you don't need to try all of these hints together. And remember that confidence is the most important item you'll ever wear. Agreed?
