Wardrobe Essentials: White Shirts

I never believed in those articles that number wardrobe basic items or must-haves of the season.

I think that we need to understand what we like and value in order to create our own essentials list.

In fact, our own lists might also change from time to time.

I always thought a trench coat was a fabulous piece of clothing, but I never really had one when I lived in Rio de Janeiro, Puerto Rico or Singapore. However, I finally bought one when I came to live in New York. Besides being stylish, it’s super useful here. So, it fits both my style and my lifestyle.

Same thing can happen with a white shirt.

You might not love it, find it too classic or even high maintenance. For me, it’s all about versatility.

I wear it to the beach, to the movies, to work (I only do color analysis wearing neutrals), and even to a party. It’s so much fun to see all the different ways that I can play with a white shirt. It’s definitely my wardrobe staple!

It’s also timeless (I’ve had some different styles for years), not to mention it has the power of elevating an outfit. All the qualities that I look for when I go shopping!

The pure white is not part of my color palette because it’s vibrant. I look better in softer colors, such as the off-white shade. But if I do insist on wearing the whitest of the whites, I try to make it work with jewelry and makeup in colors that are flattering for me.

I’ll be sharing more posts about my wardrobe staples.

Let me know in the comments section below your closet essentials, too!
