Tips on how to wear a black dress in the Summer

Are you getting your wardrobe ready for the hot days?

Are you debating on whether or not to buy a black dress this season?

I have great news for you: there's nothing wrong with wearing a black dress in the Summer! It's such a versatile piece to have in our wardrobes. Besides, it's perfect for packing and a lifesaver for unexpected events all year round. Here are five suggestions on how to style a black dress and still look super summery:

1. Go for simple designs

They are the easiest when it comes to creating multiple outfits.

Sleeveless dresses are the best, but make sure they aren't too revealing so you will be able to wear them at work.

I chose this one (see picture below) because it's effortless, timeless, and current at the same time. It has a favorable price point, too!

2. Choose accessories in different colors other than black

Camel, tan, and brown are ideal colors to guarantee a Summer vibe. My suggestion is to add a straw bag made of natural fibers. This item is perfect for a vacation or a get-together in the city. I actually love to wear mine in NYC!

Going out at night? Just change your accessories. Include cute earrings and a nice pair of high heels if you like (it's totally fine if you don't).

Another idea is to put on white accessories. They are very modern, but it depends on your personal style. In Fall, it's a whole different story. Chilly days match all-black outfits! But let's not get ahead of ourselves, right? We'll get back to this idea in September.

3. Black and denim? Yes, please!

I consider this duo very interesting. I like black and light denim a lot! It's excellent for chilly mornings and breezy evenings. Or even for staying indoors with a powerful AC.

4. Looking for an office-appropriate summer dress?

Choose sandals that cover your feet a little for work. You will look more professional, yet suitable for the warm weather. The jacket I picked is short (pictured above). This style works with dresses regardless of how tall you are. In fact, this is a great tip for Petites!

5. Ensure comfort with a belt bag.

Going sightseeing? I suggest selecting a belt bag (by the way, I talked about this subject in my previous post). Having free hands to walk all day is heaven! You just need to bring your phone, an extra mask, and a credit card. Style it in multiple ways, including just as a belt, which would also fit this dress.
