Ten tips on how to wear blazers

I've recently revisited one of my popular posts from 2020, which is all about styling blazers for Fall.

Considering its popularity, I've decided to refresh it with new insights and trends for the 2023 season. Whether you're a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, this updated guide will inspire your Fall wardrobe with fresh ideas for rocking those blazers!

Blazers have always been a key part of a woman's work wardrobe. But lately, they've become more than just professional attire, thanks to the rise of the feminist movement. Fashion reflects what's happening worldwide, even if we don't always realize it.

Here are my tips for styling blazers now, whether you're considering buying one for this Fall or already have one in your closet.

1. Blazers as the Perfect Third Piece:

Blazers are what we call "third pieces." When we wear pants and shirts, adding a third piece like a vest, bandana, jacket, scarf, or cardigan instantly elevates our look, making us appear more polished. That's why Fall dressing is so much fun—it's all about layering!

2. Boost Your Confidence:

A blazer can make you feel empowered and confident, whether heading to a meeting or hopping on a Zoom call from home.

3. A Great Trick for Petites:

If you want to appear taller, a blazer can help elongate your figure by creating two vertical lines.

4. Blazers Beyond the Office:

Blazers aren't just for the workplace anymore. They look effortlessly cool paired with a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, making them perfect for weekend outings. Look at the photos to see how brands and stores are styling blazers—it's not all about suits and heels anymore!

5. Embrace the Timelessness of Plaid:

Plaid blazers are a timeless classic! Don't hesitate to invest in one. They add texture to your outfit, making it visually intriguing. Depending on the scale and colors of the plaid pattern, it can also give off a more casual vibe.

6. Fitted or Oversized? It's Your Call!

Blazers come in various fits, but they are longer and more oversized in the last seasons. They look more modern, so consider this if you want to update your wardrobe. However, you can still find shorter and more tailored blazers. Before you go shopping, consider your style.

An important tip for you: An oversized blazer means a more relaxed style with more room for sweaters, for example. It is not the same as buying it in a size that is not yours.

If you are petite, wearing an oversized blazer is possible without overpowering your frame. One trick is to roll up the sleeves for a more elegant and stylish look. Personally, I adore layering a tee, denim jacket, and my favorite blazer—it's a winning combo!

7. Follow this Pro Tip!

Since it's likely to be an investment piece, ensure it fits you perfectly. Here's a pro tip: check the length of the sleeves. You might need to get them tailored if you're petite like me.

8. Want to Look Slimmer? Here's the Trick.

If you're looking to minimize your hips, make sure the blazer's length doesn't hit right where your hips are widest. Unless you're wearing pants in similar colors—in that case, it should be fine.

9. Working from Home? No Problem.

If you'll be working remotely this Fall and want a comfy blazer, consider options made from knit fabrics. Trust me, a blazer can look chic over a tee and sweatpants or paired with leggings and a longer shirt. Add a Zoom-friendly accessory like a short necklace and medium-sized earrings, and you'll be ready to stand up in an emergency!

10. Blazers for Every Occasion!

Aside from making you feel confident and stylish for important meetings or job interviews, remember to incorporate blazers into your casual outings. Whether it's apple picking, brunch with friends, or any other fun fall activity, blazers are versatile enough to elevate any look.
