Should I wait to lose weight to buy new clothes?

I get this question a lot: "Should I wait to lose weight to buy new clothes?."

And my answer is simple: no!

In my opinion, you don't need to lose weight to take good care of yourself.

You should wear clothes that make you feel confident and comfortable, regardless of what the scale says.

With a few exceptions, all the clients I have met in the past 20 months gained some extra pounds since the pandemic started. So, believe me, you're not alone!

Keep in mind to always buy items that make you feel good. Besides, remember that size is just a number. It means nothing.

So let's say you want to buy new clothes because your pants are tight and you are finally going back to the office. Don't panic! Read these tips first:

  • Put the clothes that don't fit you aside. In this case, when you open your closet, you will see only clothes that you can wear.

  • What fits you well? Sweaters, jackets, shirts? For now, shop only for what you need.

  • You might need a different bra size. If you do, it's time to get your new measurements. After all, if your bra doesn't fit you well, your clothes won't fit that great either.

  • If you need new pants, find yourself a pair with some stretch or an elastic waist. Frame jeans are good if you gained just a couple of pounds. You will probably still be able to wear them if you lose a little bit of weight.

  • Adding a third piece - a jacket or a blazer - is perfect in fall. It elongates your figure, too.

  • Wear accessories such as a beautiful necklace as a focal point. It helps to camouflage any area that you are conscious about.

How are you doing with your Fall wardrobe? Do your clothes fit you well? Are you planning to do some shopping?
