Loved It, But Left It: The Art of Shopping with Intention
Just because something is beautiful—even perfect for you—doesn’t mean it needs to come home with you.
We’ve all been there: you try on a stunning piece, it fits beautifully, and you feel amazing in it. But before heading to the checkout, ask yourself—does this truly add value to my wardrobe, or is it just an impulse buy?
A thoughtful wardrobe isn’t about having more; it’s about having the right pieces that work for your style, lifestyle, and existing wardrobe. Being intentional about what you bring in makes getting dressed easier and more enjoyable.
The case here: I went to my favorite store on an island I visit every year to escape the NY winter. I fell in love with a beautiful caftan—the colors, the print, and the craftsmanship (it was made in Colombia!) were all perfect. But at that moment, I knew I didn’t need another cover-up, so I said no to this beauty.
Next time you fall in love with something, pause for a moment. Do you really need it? Will it fill a gap in your wardrobe? Or is it just excitement at the moment?
Have you ever walked away from a piece you loved? Was it the right decision? Let’s chat in the comments!
