New store in NYC: Amour Vert
If there’s one thing I love about my job is looking for brands that can make a difference to my customers. I also love learning what’s new in the fashion world: whether it is an expansion, a use of new technology or a real commitment to sustainability. There is a company that I’ve been following for a long time and has been approved by many of my clients. And now luckily they opened a new store in NYC: Amour Vert.
A TEMPTING INVITATION
I was really excited when I received the invitation for the inauguration party because it said that for every RSVP confirmation they would plant a tree. Amour Vert actually does the same to every product they sell. So, how could I say no? Of course I put on my favorite outfit and attended the event! When we talk about sustainability nowadays we mean many possibilities and I believe many corporations are doing as much as they can to improve the future.
FROM THE GOLDEN STATE TO THE EMPIRE STATE
Amour Vert, which means Green Love in French, is based in California. They say 97% of what they produce is made right there in the golden state. Having factories overseas might result in lower prices for the end consumer, but they probably wouldn’t have the same sort of control.
Not to mention that transportation is also an issue when we talk about keeping things environment-friendly. The brand does use fabrics that have less impact on the environment, such as beechwood blend (an organic modal), organic cotton, and mulberry silk that is non-toxic. They also work with tencel and cupro, both produced after plants. Additionally, their wool is organic and supplies come from farms that really care about animals.
With so many stores closing lately, we know that when a group decides to open a shop in a city that the retail is crazy expensive it is because a good part of the online sales is done in the area. Naturally, they think they can stand out and be relevant. Another interesting fact is that the store has partnerships with other green labels, and we all know that collaborations are beneficial for everyone, right?
A STRATEGIC LOCATION
As a personal stylist I’m also thrilled about their location: Amour Vert can be found on Prince St, just in front of Credo. It’s also very close to Everlane and Cuyana, two other brands that go by the same ecological ideals, even though they put them into practice in different ways. Last but not least, it’s also within a few blocks from Beautycounter, a clean beauty line. That’s got to be intentional!
