My journey as an immigrant stylist in New York

This month, I celebrated fifteen years of living in New York.

When people ask me, "What is it like to be an immigrant? How have you managed to run a business as an outsider?" My answer is always the same: resilience.

Embracing Resilience

Moving to a new country is never easy. It's a journey filled with challenges, uncertainties, and obstacles.  I faced language barriers, cultural differences, and moments of self-doubt. But through it all, resilience became my greatest ally.  It pushed me never to give up and to learn from my mistakes.

Knowing Who You Are

Understanding and embracing who I am has been fundamental in my journey. My vision and mission have always been clear: to bring beauty and confidence into people's lives through my work as a stylist.

It also meant integrating my cultural background into my work, creating a distinct style that resonates with a diverse clientele. This authenticity has set me apart in the industry and attracted clients who appreciate and celebrate diversity.

love what I do, and I do it with love

This love manifests in the attention to detail I give to each client, the joy I find in transforming someone's look, and the satisfaction I get from seeing someone more confident and beautiful.

Proud of My Background

Being an immigrant has enriched my life and my work in countless ways. I'm proud of my heritage and the experiences that have shaped me. My accent, traditions, and stories are all part of who I am, and I wear them with pride.

Incorporating my cultural background into my business has allowed me to offer something unique and authentic. It has opened doors to connect with people from all backgrounds, which is great being in New York.

And then… there's the borogodó

Borogodó — that special something that can't quite be defined. In Brazilian Portuguese, "borogodó" is similar to the French "je ne sais quoi." It's that irresistible charm, the spark that makes you stand out.

My borogodó is a blend of my experiences, culture, resilience, and passion. It's the essence that I bring into every interaction and every style I create.

It has allowed me to bring personality and flair into my work, making each styling session not just a service but a way to bring joy, warmth, and a touch of magic to the everyday.

Thank you for being part of my 15-year journey. Here's to many more years of resilience, passion, and unforgettable style!
