Learn to shop strategically before - and after - Black Friday sales!
Do you know why Fall and Winter sales always start around Thanksgiving?
It's because Resort or Pre-Spring collections are already arriving at the stores!
If you haven't noticed, the Fashion Calendar doesn't coordinate with the current weather. That's why we need to learn how to shop wisely at all times, not only during Black Friday.
So how do we get ready and take advantage of the sales? Here are seven tips that I follow and share with my clients:
1 - It's better to buy online.
It's easier to research at different stores, and you can check the inventory. The exception is when it is a final sale, which I avoid even at physical stores because it is always ideal to have a second chance after you try the piece at home.
2 - Do you have a wishlist?
I love to write down a list of items I need - replacements or something I miss having in my wardrobe, but it's costly at full price. This year, for example, I will check if I find a beautiful wool blazer. I don't need it, but it will be a fun addition to my wardrobe.
3 - Keep watching special items.
It's the best time to buy prime boots or a dress that you already had an eye on, but again, it was a bit extravagant for your budget.
4 - Do you need new underwear?
If you know your bra size and have favorite brands, lingerie is also amazing to buy during sales.
5 - Purge your closet!
Study your wardrobe first. Is anything missing? Is your favorite black sweater getting old? Analyze your collection before making any impulsive purchases!
6 - Be patient!
Always look at the stores before the sales. The weekend before Thanksgiving is the right time for it. What's your budget? It's time to create a wishlist now!
7 - Be conscious of what you need versus what you want.
Don't buy anything you wouldn't buy at a regular price just because it's on sale.
MY POINT OF VIEW
Sales are not the best time to shop for trendy items. It's the ideal moment to find timeless and high-quality clothes, shoes, and accessories that are often overpriced. Why don't you take this time to start building a curated wardrobe?
