Is it OK to wear Autumn colors in the Summer?

Let's settle the age-old debate: do we need to wait until September to wear Autumn colors? Is it appropriate to wear a pastel-colored dress when it's not Springtime?

Maybe a light pink floral dress won't be your first choice for a wedding in NY in November, but when we talk about your daily wardrobe, I believe that you don't need to stick to these old rules or you don't need to change the colors you wear every season.

Here is a photo of me wearing an olive green top in mid-August. It's a color that suits my complexion. I don't see any problem wearing it all year round. I added a pair of earrings in a light color to bring a "summery" vibe. I also avoided black pants and chose camel instead.

If you want to have a more curated and sustainable wardrobe, you need to be able to wear your clothes on different occasions and seasons whenever possible. Additionally, it is vital to consider what looks good on you. Cool pastel colors don't suit me, so I don't need to buy those colors in the Spring to feel I am dressing according to the new season.

Here are some examples:

  • Do you prefer or look better wearing off-white or ecru than pure white? Then, you can stick to them all seasons. There are not only winter whites.

  • You can always style your clothes according to the season. Think of color combinations. In the Fall, I would probably pick darker pants for this olive green top. In the Spring, I could play with color combinations, maybe adding a warm pink scarf.

  • You can also play with makeup. Yesterday I wore orange lipstick because it's Summer. Later on, I would probably wear a nude/light brown hue.

If you have no idea which colors look good on you, it's time to schedule a Color Analysis. I promise you it's life-changing and helpful if you want to build a curated wardrobe. Would you like to know more? Just send me an email at hello@marciacrivorot.com.
