How to wear shorts when you are 40+
Here's a question I get quite a lot:
"How do I know if a pair of shorts are too short for me?"
This is a tricky question. But my answer is simple: it depends more on how comfortable and confident you feel than on how old you are.
I have some great tips to share with you. And remember: they aren't rules. The decision is always yours to make! It doesn't matter if you are Gen Z, Millennial, or over 40, 50… Play around with these ideas and have fun getting dressed for the Summer!
1 - LOCATION MATTERS
When picking shorts, it counts a lot where you are going. Are you at the beach enjoying your holidays? Or are you going out at night? Both scenarios are just completely different. Consider the occasion and the location. In my opinion, I prefer to wear shorts when I go on Summer vacation.
2 - SIZE MATTERS, TOO!
Shorts look more elegant when they have a bit of a looser fit. This applies to all types of fabric, such as denim, linen, cotton, etc.
3 - THINK ABOUT THE SMALL DETAILS.
There are plenty of options for different inseams. Sometimes even one inch can make a huge difference to make you more confident.
4 - PAY ATTENTION TO THE PROPORTIONS.
Shorter shorts look good with longer shirts. On the other hand, Bermuda shorts are more challenging to style. Choosing a similar color for your top helps a lot, though.
5 - PERFECT MATCHING SHOES?
Espadrilles with wedge heels work great with Bermuda shorts. Here's an idea on how to create an elegant outfit: put on a beautiful pair of Bermuda shorts and add a cotton or linen shirt. This look is simply ageless.
