How to wear gold and silver together
I often hear one question from my clients: "What are the rules about mixing gold and silver?" My answer: There are no rules!
You might have heard some so-called rules (I did, too!), but I don't think they make any sense.
I love mixing rings with different metals and often wear a gold necklace with a silver bracelet. Personally, I lean towards gold because it complements my warm complexion. When I mix metals, I don't worry about balancing the quantities. It's just a personal preference that I think looks better.
I've had this silver necklace for years, and it's a beautiful piece I bought in Mexico. While I still think it's gorgeous, I don't wear it often. It's a bit too classic for my style and too cool for my complexion.
Last month, I had an idea. I asked my friend, jewelry designer Silvia D'Ávila, to make a similar necklace in gold. She suggested using different sizes of metallic beads to make it more interesting.
I loved the result! Now, I can wear the gold necklace alone or pair it with the silver one.
My tip for you: Don’t be afraid to wear gold and silver together. If you have a piece you love but don't know how to wear, try finding a way to make it work for you. Pair it with clothes you love or add a color that makes you feel good.
