How to wear black even if it's not a flattering color for you
There are many reasons why most people love to wear black. It sends a message of elegance.
After all, dark colors seem to be more "forgivable" than bright colors.
There's also this idea that you can wear a black dress more often than a red one.
Not to mention that it can hide small accidents during parties or meetings - in case you spill drinks or food on your outfit.
Additionally, when the clothing has poor quality, it's harder to notice not-so-good finishing.
These are all valid points. But we need to add that many of us wear black just because we love the color. Myself included!
However, black can be heavy for some people's complexion.

Rosie, on the right: black is not part of her color palette, but it is part of her personal style, so we make it work.
When I work on color analysis, I test which colors enhance your natural beauty. I consider 3 color characteristics:
value (dark x light)
temperature (warm x cool)
and intensity (bright x muted).
For instance, you won't find black in a color palette for those who look better with light and warm colors.
So what if black doesn't work for you but you still love this color?
In my opinion, your personal style will always be more determinant when deciding what to wear. In fact, I can advise you how to wear black based on your personal style.
Here are some quick tips to get you started:
Show some cleavage. Avoid black turtlenecks, for example.
Choose accessories in metals and colors that are the best for your skin undertone.
Satin fabrics reflect light and make black softer.
Lace, embroideries, and beads on the cleavage have the same softening effect.
Makeup is very important. Pick blush, eyeshadows, and lipstick based on your color palette.
These ideas apply only to what you wear next to your face: shirts, pashmina, jewelry, eyeglasses, and sunglasses.
My color palette doesn't have black at all. But I wear it all the time. After I learned these tips, they gave me the power to compensate and avoid looking washed out.
