How to style blazers for Fall

Blazers have always been a type of a staple piece of a woman’s professional wardrobe.

Lately, it has stepped up to the fashion category following the feminist movement - Fashion is always aligned with what’s going on in the world, even if people don’t really notice it.

So here are my tips on how to wear a blazer now. Or if you are considering buying one for this Fall.

In the photos, you will see different price points to get you inspired - from the super fancy Balmain to more affordable ones!

1. BLAZERS ARE THE IDEAL THIRD PIECE!

Blazers are what we call third pieces. When we wear pants and shirts, the third piece - for example: a vest, a bandana, a jacket, a scarf or cardigan - is considered an addition.

When we add a third piece, we immediately look more polished. That’s why it is so much easier to dress up in the Fall.

2. IT CAN BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE

Blazers can make you feel empowered and confident right away. It's also perfect to wear on a Zoom call.

3. IT IS AN AMAZING HACK FOR PETITES!

If you wish to look taller, a blazer can elongate your figure since it creates 2 vertical lines.

4. BLAZERS GO BEYOND THE OFFICE SPACE

What’s new for blazers? Consider it not only a business clothing choice. It looks cool with a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers.

So, if you already have a blazer, take it for a walk on the weekends as well.

Just look at the photos of how brands and stores are styling blazer outfits. It's not a woman in a suit and heels anymore!

5. PLAID IS CLASSIC

Plaid blazers are classic! Don’t feel afraid of buying one. It adds texture to your outfit, which will make it look interesting. And depending on the scale and the colors, it looks more casual as well.

6. FITTED OR OVERSIZED? YOU PICK!

You can find blazers in different fits nowadays.

Some are a little oversized or longer. Others are shorter and more fitted.

Before shopping, take into consideration your personal style, but we can always make it work for all sorts of body types.

For instance, one trick is to pull the sleeves to enhance a more elegant and stylish look. The good thing about a roomy blazer is that you can wear a sweater underneath, or you can add another layer when it gets cooler, such as a t-shirt, denim jacket and, of course, your go-to blazer. I personally love this combination!

7. FOLLOW THIS PRO TIP!

It will probably be an investment piece for you, so make sure it fits you properly. Here's a pro tip: make sure to check the length of the sleeves. You might need it to be tailored if you are petite like me.

8. INTERESTED IN LOOKING SLIMMER? READ THIS.

If you are concerned about camouflaging your hip area, the blazer's length should not hit exactly where your hips are the widest. Unless you are wearing pants in similar colors - in this case it should be OK.

9. WORKING FROM HOME? NO PROBLEM.

If you are planning to be working from home this Fall and want a very comfortable blazer, there are options made of knit. And believe me when I say that a blazer looks cool over a t-shirt and sweatpants, or over a legging with a longer shirt.

Add a Zoom proof accessory (short necklace and small or medium size earrings) and you can even stand up if there is an emergency!

10. BLAZERS ARE GOOD FOR ANY SITUATION!

Besides making you feel powerful and looking great on important meetings and job interviews, remember to style blazers when you go outdoors for some good old apple picking, having brunch with friends, or anything fun and casual that this cool and beautiful season has in store for you.
