How to pack for a Winter escape

Are you planning to take a break from the cold?

President's Day Weekend and school holidays are coming. So I have some ideas to help you choose the right clothes and accessories for your winter escape.

I know it can be tough to pack for a completely different climate. At this point, I assume you stored your summer clothes in several places around the house, right? Even if you are going for just a couple of days, think of this as an opportunity to do a fun early Spring cleaning. Here are my tips:

1 - Start early

Check if your summer clothes are in good condition. Do you need to wash or replace anything? There are many options for resort clothes in the stores right now, but you need to have some time ahead to order them.

2 - Plan your beach outfits

How many days are you staying at the beach? One week? If you plan to go swimming in the sea or pool every day, it's good to have three options of swimwear. Remember they take some time to dry after washing them.

3 - Be creative with your cover-ups

You can wear a shirt dress to go out for dinner or a chic cover-up. I also like pareos that you can tie in multiple ways. Consider what you prefer and how much time of the day you plan to wear them. The more you wear beachwear during the day, the less you will need other clothes.

4 - What to wear for dinner

Bring a couple of your favorite dresses. Add at least one pair of summer pants and a cotton sweater for windy nights. If you have a denim jacket, it also works perfectly with dresses.

5 - Always come prepared

Include a shawl in your purse in case you feel cold on the airplane. You can pair it with your dresses if you experience some chilly nights.

6 - What about shoes?

I recommend flats, espadrilles, or low block heel mules. Don't forget Havaianas or your favorite rubber sandals for the sand.

7 - About accessories

Pins for the hair are necessary. Pack your favorite earrings, too!

8 - Do I need many bags?

It's vital to bring one bag for the beach. Then, pick a smaller one to go sightseeing or go out at night.

9 - Travel essentials

Things you can't leave behind: a hat, sunscreen, and other items in your makeup bag. For me, I make sure to take products for curly hair. They aren't so easy to find!

10 - My final tip

If you are taking many separate pieces (shirts, shorts, pants, etc.), choose them in colors and styles that let you create many different combinations. Packing is like having a capsule wardrobe. When you pack well, you won't miss anything.

I hope these suggestions were helpful. Have fun and enjoy your trip!
