How to look chic in bermuda shorts

COS Stores

Weeks ago, I was working on a client's wardrobe. We were checking her summer clothes to decide on what to keep or not. She showed me a pair of bermuda tailored shorts that she didn't know how to style. But before she gave up on the piece, I helped her create a couple of outfits with it. She was surprised by how it worked well and decided to keep it.

I already wrote about bermuda shorts two years ago, but I thought it would be fun to post an update. So here are five tips:

1 - Pay attention to the proportions

Bermudas shorts can be tricky to style because of proportion. It's not interesting when we wear the top and the bottom pieces of our outfit pretty much the same length, especially if you are petite and want to elongate your figure. In this case, wear similar colors instead of high contrast colors such as black and white.

2 - Flattering your waistline

It's a great idea to tuck in the shirt and put on a belt to accentuate your waist.

3 - A very current and elegant combination

Tailored bermudas with pleats look amazing with fitted tops. For example, add a ribbed tank top. Those are trendy now!

4 - Don't forget the third piece!

Adding a third piece as a blazer elevates the outfit. It's also perfect for chilly summer nights, freezing offices, or a transition to Fall.

5 - What shoes go together with bermuda shorts?

Here you have plenty of options: sandals with heels, mules, sneakers, or flat sandals. It only depends on your day and if you want to dress up or dress down.

I hope these outfit options will help you get inspired. Now, let's talk! Do you like bermuda shorts or struggle to style them? Let me know in the comment section below.
