Desire for simplicity

Two summers ago, I traveled for the first time to Scandinavia.

As always, traveling for me includes researching local lifestyles and brands, not just what a tourist would normally do.

In Scandinavian design, “less is more”, and I could see that everywhere during my trip: from the Michelin starred restaurants to the way people dress.

Later I learned about the Swedish word Lagom (it's pronounced "la-gum") and I even read a book about it: Lagom means: “Not too much, not too little, just right. More simplicity instead of extravagance”.

Long before the pandemic I have noticed those in fashion talking about how they are looking for timeless pieces that would last. At the same time I read a comment about a cool store closing in Soho, when someone said that “people are tired of clothes that need an instruction manual”.

All these concepts and ideas resonated with me.

I have been thinking a lot about what I want to wear and have in my wardrobe, even before the pandemic started.

I saw this photo by photographer Sandra Semburg taken at the Copenhagen Fashion Week days ago and I added it to my personal mood board. It’s perfect to exemplify what I have been thinking about for a long time: the definition of having a sustainable wardrobe, which means different things for each one of us.

That’s how I work with my clients, there are no rules that work for everyone.
