8 tips on how to pack for a Summer trip

Do you miss traveling?

Apparently many people have plans for this Summer since hotels and AirBnBs are getting fully booked.

I don't know about you but if I don't go to the beach, I don't get the sense that Summer is real. After all, I'm from Rio de Janeiro.

Whether you prefer going to a beach, lake, or mountain, I'm sure you're looking for a way to enjoy this season.

That's why I wanted to talk about packing. Is it an easy or stressful time for you? Don't sweat. Here are my tips to pack for your next summer trip:

1- START WITH A COLOR STORY

If it's a short journey, I choose 2 colors that I love and go together. For instance, blue and orange. Then, I add neutral colors. This way, it's easier to have a cohesive set of clothes. If it's a trip longer than 3 days, I add a third color. (A quick tip: orange and blue are complementary colors. Read here to learn more about color combinations).

2- WHITE DENIM

Wanna try something new? Play with white denim (pants or shorts) in your Summer outfits. They are real neutrals and will match your color choices.

3- HOW MANY PAIRS OF SHORTS OR PANTS?

Pick 1-2 bottoms to 3 tops. If it's a 3-day trip, one pair of shorts and one pair of pants should do the trick.

4- INCLUDE A SUMMER DRESS

Who doesn't love a summer dress? I know I do! I always have at least one in my suitcase. In fact, I mentioned the latest summer dress trend in a previous post. Check it out!

5- SWIMWEAR

If you plan to go swimming, I suggest taking 2 swimsuits to allow time to wash and dry. You can also wear two cover-ups as Summer dresses. After the beach or pool, this simple outfit is perfect for a casual lunch.

6- WHAT ABOUT SHOES?

Never pack brand-new shoes. The best shoes are the ones you know are comfortable. Don't forget a pair of sneakers. They are great for working out, hiking, sightseeing, or going out at night if it rains. High heels are a big no unless you have a formal event. If you want to look taller, espadrilles with wedge heels are ideal.

7- JACKET IN SUMMER? YES, PLEASE!

A denim jacket is a good item if it gets chilly at night or the AC is too powerful. Don't have one? No problem. Put on a light pashmina, either neutral or in one of the colors you picked.

8- ACCESSORIZE!

Remember to add nice accessories: jewelry can step up your outfit game! Pack sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and a good book. I like to read novels related to Summer and travel. How about you?
