6 tips to look stylish on a hot and humid Summer day

My favorite Summer clothing piece is a dress. It seems obvious, but it’s both comfortable and practical. I feel very happy when I finally encounter my dresses every June or when I need to pack for a getaway.

Chances are that you’ll eventually find a dress that fits your style and end up wearing it for many years to come.

Here are my tips to wear a dress on a hot and humid Summer day:

1 - Choose natural fabrics such as cotton or linen

Or a blend that has these fibers in a higher composition percentage. Avoid fabrics such as polyester. I know that its maintenance is easy and it might fit your lifestyle better. However, my advice is to avoid polyester if you need, for example, to visit clients and go from one place to another on a hot day. And yes, I promise that linen still looks beautiful even if it has some wrinkles here and there.

2 - It’s better if your dress has a bit of a loose cut

Not fitted all over. It’s all about comfort, right?

3 - Wear sandals (if possible)

4 - Accessorize!

Summer asks for accessories such as earrings or bracelets, they completely change the look of an old dress! Get some inspiration reading the posts about color combinations here and here

5 - Don’t be afraid of midi lengths if you are a shortie!

Just make sure to add a belt and don’t be afraid to show your nice legs! Many dresses nowadays are quite voluminous and this can be hard for some petite ladies! Believe me, I know exactly how you feel! I both work with women with all kinds of silhouettes and I am a petite myself! Proportions are important for everyone, but if you’re not super tall, they are the key! I will share a post with tips for the petite crowd soon. Stay tuned!

6 - Don’t forget to put on sunscreen and light makeup

Plus: always carry blotting paper in your purse - it’s great to make your look fresh once again during the day without actually having to retouch.

Do you have a favorite Summer dress that you wear over and over again?
